Chilmark has scheduled road-paving projects over the next several weeks that will result in detours and delays.

Tabor House Road will be closed to through traffic Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, May 19–21, for daytime repaving, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm each day, according to a press release. All Middle Line Road and landfill traffic will be expected to use North Road.

The following week, May 26–28, work crews will move to North Road between No. 414 and No. 443 (Bliss Pond Farm and Prospect Hill area). North Road will be closed to through traffic on Tuesday and Wednesday for daytime repaving, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm each day.

Work is tentatively scheduled the first week in June on a stretch of Middle Road between Nos. 135 and 174 (Meeting House Road and Tea Lane area). Middle Road will be closed to through traffic two days in early June for daytime repaving, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm each day.

Tea Lane residents will need to access their homes from North Road during the paving. Meeting House Road residents will access their homes from South Road during the paving.

Local traffic will not be allowed to cross freshly laid bituminous concrete, according to a press release. Delays should be expected. It is possible that some driveways or subdivision roads will be obstructed completely for up to two hours during the laying of the final topcoat, town officials announced.
