Friends and relatives of Tisbury Shellfish Constable Derek Cimeno will dedicate a Lagoon-side bench in his memory at 10 am Saturday. The bench is located off a small parking area opposite the seawall between the launch ramp and Winds Up, and overlooks the waters where Mr. Cimeno worked so hard to nurture the town’s shellfish.

“It was a place Derek loved,” Asa Jones, Tisbury town administrative assistant, said.

Mr. Cimeno died on Sept. 14, 2009, at the age of 39. He had worked for the town’s shellfish department for 20 years, and was appointed shellfish constable in 1997.
