Varsity girls tennis team finish season undefeated


Undefeated, and it feels so good. The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School girls varsity team completed their 17-0 season by sweeping Falmouth 5-0 on Friday, May 29.

The Vineyarders’ perfect season was rewarded when they received the No. 1 overall seed in the Division 3 South Sectional playoffs. They have a first-round bye, and will take on the winner of the Norwell/Fairhaven match at home on Monday.

Against Falmouth, first singles Samantha Potter won 6-2, 6-0, while both second and third singles players Kat Roberts and Lizzie Williamson won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. First doubles pair Charlotte Potter and Josie Iadicicco defeated Falmouth’s Emily Maness and Kayla Sheehan 6-0, 6-2, and second doubles team Amadine Muniz and Madison McBride defeated Lindsey Shea and Paige Meade 5-7, 6-4, 1-0.
