The Niantic Park Playground Project’s (NPPP) Community Build will be held Wednesday, Oct. 14, through Sunday, Oct. 18. According to a press release, the organizers are looking for hundreds of volunteers to help in all aspects of the process of creating a custom playground for the community — construction, landscaping, registration, food, etc. Volunteers should bring the following items (if possible) to the work site: a hammer, a tape measure, a nail apron, a No. 2 pencil, safety goggles, and work gloves. Drills and extension cords are also needed on site. Please come prepared for all kinds of weather; work will only be halted for severe weather, such as lightning or tornado warnings. Volunteers for the community build will receive emails when the build dates approach with additional information and details.
Details about the park and the funding can be found in this previously published story: mvtimes.com/2015/07/29/niantic-park-on-the-rebound.
