This past Friday and Saturday, a large turnout of friends, family, and fans of Doug Kent’s artwork gathered at the Chilmark Community Center for an art exhibit and sale of Mr. Kent’s work, with the proceeds going to help pay his medical expenses. Mr. Kent is currently suffering from uveitis as well as Charles Bonnet syndrome.

Lynne Whiting of West Tisbury reported, “The well-attended show at the Community Center was a wonderful mix of nostalgia and love of Doug’s work. He told me that this was the first time ever that he has had a show that exhibited such a range.”

If you missed the show, most of what wasn’t sold is now on exhibit at the West Tisbury library until the end of March. A closing reception will be held at the library on March 26, from 4 to 5 pm.

There will also be another show, June 29 and 30 at the Grange Hall in West Tisbury.

And raffle tickets will continue to be sold until June 15. Each ticket is $100, and with the ticket purchase you receive a signed giclée print, and you will be in the running to win an original Doug Kent painting. Interested buyers should call Lizzy Kent at 617-830-2435. The drawing will be held on June 30 at the Grange Hall.

Anyone wishing to donate money can send a check to You’ve Got a Friend, P.O. Box 1317, West Tisbury, MA 02575. Be sure to include a note indicating that it goes to Doug Kent.
