Island Theatre Workshop holds auditions March 5 and 12, from noon to 4 pm, for its upcoming production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific in Concert.”
Director Kevin Ryan is looking for one boy and one girl ages 8 to 12, and several more vocalists ages 15 to 85 for other principals and the chorus.
“We haven’t done a concert remake of a show like this in 25 years,” Mr. Ryan said. “This storyline is still relevant after 50 years. We’re still dealing with prejudice, bigotry, and war, but love hopefully prevails.”
Performances are planned for April 29 and 30.
Plans are also underway for this summer’s musical, which Mr. Ryan said will require a cast of 60, including a principal to play “an orphan in a red dress who has a dog named Sandy.”
Auditions are held at the Island Theatre Workshop, 12 Music Street, West Tisbury. For more information, call Mr. Ryan at 508-627-2456 or 508-627-5683.
