Tisbury School students and staff recognized Random Acts of Kindness Week, Feb. 13-17. This annual event includes daily activities focused on the spirit of kindness toward others. According to a press release, one of the activities had students from younger and older grades working together to write letters of thanks to individuals and groups who have demonstrated kindness and support to the Tisbury School community. Letters were written to Olivia Jacobs, who volunteered four days each week for three weeks during her recent college winter vacation; Alan Fortes, who volunteers his time to make sure the school has safe, reliable heat in the winter; Tom Robinson, who each year donates a day of labor with his crew to perform tree work on the Tisbury School campus; Officer Scott Ogden, the school resource officer; the Tisbury Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO); the crossing guards; the Tisbury School bus drivers; the school committee and school advisory council; the board of selectmen, and Sergeant Major Kevin M. Devine of the U.S. Army, who attended the Tisbury School, and likes to come back to visit when he is on leave.
