Ann Crook, manager of the Martha’s Vineyard Airport, has had a successful first year, according to the airport commission. Commissioners unanimously approved a $10,000 increase in her salary, and an $800 per month car allowance.

“I think that the board should not only vote in conscience on this raise, but give Ann some special acknowledgement for the work that she’s done for us during an incredibly challenging period, and was able to bounce back with solutions, creative opportunities, ways to get things done, and working around obstacle courses in an incredible fashion,” Myron Garfinkle, chairman of the commission, said on June 8 during their meeting at the Vineyard Transit Authority building.

Ms. Crook signed a contract with the airport last May, effective May 6, 2016, to May 5, 2019. It included an annual base salary of $145,000, which was increased to $155,000 last Thursday. Ms. Crook was provided a vehicle for airport duties, but airport commissioners approved an $800 per month car allowance in lieu of a car.

Ms. Crook has more than 25 years of experience managing airports. She was the former director of aviation at the Elmira Corning Regional Airport in New York before coming to the Vineyard.
