Beginning Friday, Oct. 13 from 10:30 am to 12 pm, the West Tisbury library will host weekly open chamber music rehearsals on most fall and winter Fridays and occasionally Sundays. According to a press release, the rehearsals are facilitated by Island violinist César Atzíc Márquez. Attend as an audience member, or bring your instrument and join in. Audience questions are welcome — these rehearsals are meant to be educational and fun. Please check the library website for rehearsal dates: bit.ly/chambermusicrehearsals. This event is free and open to the public.
César Atzíc Márquez, a native of Yucatán, Mexico, has enjoyed 45 years of life totally immersed in music, including the violin and viola, chamber ensembles, symphony orchestras, opera, and ballet, as well as earning a degree in symphonic conducting. A lifelong member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), as well as a member of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, the United Nations Symphony, the 92 St. Y Symphony, and, in Mexico, the OSEM, the OSPB, and the OFCM, the top three symphonies in his country.
Mr. Atzíc has been playing music on the Vineyard for 15 years. Through his work with Island churches, Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, and Windemere, he has brought his gift of music to children and the elderly. He enjoys teaching privately and treasures the opportunity to help bring specialized music to weddings, memorials, and celebrations of life.
