Five Vineyarders competed in the prestigious State Coaches Invitational Meet on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Roxbury. With the high standards required, just getting into the Coaches meet is an accomplishment, but the Vineyarders made their day count by setting six personal records.
Mackenzie Condon placed third in the 55-meter high hurdles with a time of 8.87 (PR), and followed that up with a 10th-place finish in the high jump at 4 feet, 11 inches. Amber Cuthbert earned a pair of PRs by placing 15th in the one-mile (5:31.89) and 19th in the 1,000 meters (3:16.63). Catherine Cherry completed a stellar day for the Vineyard girls by finishing 22nd in the two-mile (12:13.55, PR).
For the boys, Peter Burke ran 16th in the 1,000 meters (2:46.32, PR), and 22nd in the one-mile (4:40.26, PR), while Nathaniel Packer put the shot a 16th best 43 feet, 6.25 inches.
Next up for the Vineyarders is the “Last Chance to Qualify Meet” (for the state Division 5 meet on Feb. 15, that is) on Sunday, again at Reggie Lewis.
