Island gymnastics brings home medals

Island Gymnastics sent 12 gymnasts to the Mardi Gras Invitational hosted by Head Over Heels Gymnastics in Hanover last weekend. The Xcel Gold division competed on Feb. 10 and the Xcel Bronze division competed on Feb. 11.

The results are as follows:

Xcel Gold team placed 3rd as a team and took home a trophy for the gym.

In the Xcel Gold Division 1, Arianna Edelman won gold with 1st All Around 36.75 and placed 3rd vault 9.2, 2nd bars 9.0, 1st beam 9.55 and 3rd floor 9.0.

Molly Crawford won silver with 2nd AA 36.65 and placed 2nd vault 9.3, 1st bars 9.1, 6th beam 9.05 and 1st floor 9.2.

Sara Goodale finished 4th All Around 35.35 and took 1st vault 9.4, 7th beam 8.95, 6th floor 8.7.

Emily Boyd took 5th bars 8.5 and 7th floor 8.7.

Amy Maeda placed 6th bars 8.4 and 3rd beam 9.2.

In the Xcel Bronze Division 1, Grace Voshell won gold for 1st All Around, her personal best 37.5 and placed 2nd on vault, beam and floor with 9.3, 9.55, 9.2 respectively and 1st bars 9.45.

Elizabeth Thompson finished 7th All Around 35.9 and 7th bars 9.05, 4th floor 9.2.

Casey Webster took 6th bars 9.2, 5th beam 9.2.

Gabrielle Guimaraes finished 9th with 9.0 bars.

Abigail Henry finished 10th bars 9.0.

Autumn Wiggin finished 11th bars 8.9.

Xcel Bronze Dividion 2:

Nikita Kleeman placed 5th All Around 36.0 and 1st floor 9.4.
