Good news for people traveling off-Island and eventually off-Cape. The Sagamore Bridge work 90 percent done and should be completed by the end of this week, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which controls the bridge.

Contractor R. Zoppo Corp. of Stoughton is finishing up the installation of bridge joints and repairing damaged concrete along the sidewalk, according to the Corps press release. “Barring unforeseen complications, the contractor will be off the bridge and have all four travel lanes open to traffic no later than Friday, May 4, 2018,” the release states.

The work has snarled traffic, particularly on Route 6 and Route 3.
