The Alison Shaw Gallery opens its season this year with a special show featuring Shaw’s advanced mentorship students. This is only the second time the gallery has featured the students in their own show, and the opening reception will be held Sunday, May 6, from 4 to 6 pm at the gallery located at 88 Dukes County Ave. in the Oak Bluffs Arts District. All four of the exhibiting photographers will be present at the opening reception: Lucy Dahl, Jacqueline Abodeely, Beth Horstman, and Andrea Dawson.
The advanced mentorship program, which runs primarily during the off-season, offers a great opportunity to work intensively with a small group of photographers who are serious about their work. The show will run until Memorial Day weekend, the traditional opening weekend for the gallery. Sunday’s reception is open to the public. Beginning May 7, Alison Shaw Gallery will be open Monday through Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm, and closed on Sundays. For more information, visit alisonshaw.com.
