MVRHS girls tennis slays Dragons

The Vineyard varsity girls tennis team stayed unbeaten at 9-0 with a 4-1 win over the Duxbury High School Dragons, Monday in Duxbury.

First singles Kelly Klaren defeated Melissa Linsdell, 6-3, 6-2. Victoria Scott beat Elise Hogan, 6-1, 6-0, at second singles, and Hannah Rabasca completed the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-2, win over Sophia Caslin.

The teams split the doubles matches. Vineyarders Kat Roberts and Lizzie Williamson rolled past Annie Gardner and Paige Withington, 6-0, 6-1, at first doubles, while Duxbury’s Anniek Van Aarem and Lauren McKenzie earned a hard-fought 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (tiebreak) second doubles victory against Molly Pogue and Chesca Potter.
