Author Jim Kaplan gives a talk paying tribute to William Shakespeare’s play “King Lear” at the West Tisbury library on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 4 pm. At the event, Kaplan will discuss his newest work, a booklet titled “The Greatness of King Lear: Its Language Captivates Us; Its Matchless Tragedy Speaks to Our Times.” Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
Kaplan is the bridge columnist for the Vineyard Gazette, and the author of 20 books, including 14 on baseball, two on bridge, and one on the five months he and his wife, poet and critic Brooks Robards, spent in China teaching journalism. This is his second talk at the West Tisbury library.
