Zeltzer served whole Island

To the Editor:

The article in the Nov. 8 edition on the election results (“It’s Davis in a landslide for clerk of courts”) inappropriately claimed that Bob Zeltzer “was ousted” from the Dukes County Commission. The definition of the word ousted is “to drive out or expel someone.” Bob came up seven votes short.

Bob was a voice of reason, fairness, and thoughtfulness during his two-year tenure on the county commission. He was one of the commissioners who represented all of us and not himself. It is insulting to Bob and any of our island neighbors who volunteer for public office and serve the Island community to imply that he was forcibly driven from office.

The Island owes him its thanks, and the Times owes him an apology.
