Sail Martha’s Vineyard has announced the appointment of John Kettlewell as executive director, according to a press release. Kettlewell will start in early January, replacing Brock Callen, who decided to step down after having served as the executive director since 2009. Kettlewell will be moving to the Island from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., where he currently works for Saratoga PLAN, a nonprofit land trust. Kettlewell has 16 years of experience in nonprofit management. He worked for the Adirondack Mountain Club prior to Saratoga PLAN. He also worked extensively in the marine publishing industry, and he is the author of navigational books and numerous sailing articles, the release states.
Kettlewell said in the release, “I am very excited to join Sail Martha’s Vineyard. My wife and I have been sailing to the Vineyard since the 1980s, and we quickly fell in love with the Island. My background in nonprofit work and the boating industry, and my own sailing experience, are a great fit with Sail MV. For me, this is a dream position. I can’t wait to get my feet wet.”
Sail Martha’s Vineyard President Peggy Schwier said in the release, “We are so thrilled that John has accepted the position and will come on board to help direct our organization. We are so excited for everyone to meet him. This is an exciting new beginning for Sail MV.”
