Music
and art go hand in hand
Charles and Nancy Blank will do a multi-media presentation at the
Tisbury Senior Center on the connection between art and music on Monday,
April 4 at 1:30 pm.
Art slides and CD music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries
will be presented together to show similarities between music and
art and how they parallel each other.
Do music and art reflect or herald the times? Decide for yourself.
This is the last Music Appreciation Hour for the season. The lecture
is free.
What is a
best boy?
Island documentary filmmaker Jonathan Skurnik will be shooting a
film the weekend of April 9-10 in Edgartown. The film depicts
the tense moments in a couple's early relationship after receiving
some unexpected news said Mr. Skurnik.
The director needs help with art direction, catering, and other
production assistance, and is putting out the call to all interested

Saints and the Starry-eyed Shuffle," set to vintage rock
music, will be part of the She-figured Dance performance in
Cambridge this weekend.

The Vineyard based company, She-figured Dance, presents a full-length
performance, Bits of Leverage, at The Dance Complex's
Julie Ince Thompson Theatre in Cambridge on Saturday, April 2 at
8 pm and Sunday, April 3 at 7 pm.

Roque brings her music home
Islander Meghan La Roque appears at Offshore Ale with Todd Martin
on Thursday, March 31. Ms. LaRoque will tour the east coast to promote
her new release, Drunk In A Kiss.
In 2004 Ms. La Roque started her own record label, Rock You Records,
and Drunk In A Kiss is the labels first release.
Writer shares her secrets
Joyce Wagner returns to the Island to teach writing workshops at Featherstone
Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs. On Saturday, April 2 Ms. Wagner
teaches Learning to Think Like a Writer. The morning session,
from 9:30 am to noon, is for children ages 10 to 12 while the afternoon
class, from 1:30 to 4 pm, is for adults. Class size is limited and
registration is suggested.

The Marthas Vineyard Center for the Visual Arts (MVCVA) is ready
to send their 2005 issue of Artists and Galleries on Marthas
Vineyard to the printer. Are you included?
