Jeffrey
D. Smith of Chilmark and Jacquelyn A. McNulty of Oak Bluffs have
been named to the Cushing Academy honor roll for the 2005 winter term.
Mr. Smith is a member of the class of 2007 and Ms. McNulty is in the
class of 2005.

Erik
Monterosso

Erik Monterosso,
son of Ron and Pam Monterosso of Edgartown, participated in the fourth
annual scholarship competition at Lynchburg College. The competition
was held to recognize the achievements of students who excel in scholarship,
leadership, and community service.
Tabor Academy has placed Henry Peacor and Sean Tucker
on the honors list; Mr. Peacor is a member of the class of 2006, and
the son of Ms. M.L. Peacor of Vineyard Haven. Mr. Tucker, the son
of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Tucker of Edgartown, will graduate in 2007.
Chad E. Absten of Edgartown has recently completed an eleven-week
firefighting training course at the Massachusetts Firefighter Academy
in Stow. Mr. Absten is a full-time firefighter/paramedic for the Falmouth
Fire and Rescue Department. He is also a volunteer paramedic on the
Island.
William E. Marks, author of The Holy Order of Water,
was one of several invited guests to participate at the United Nations
Blessings of the Waters ceremony on March 22, World Water
Day.
Liane Dixon, a junior at Northeastern University, has been
named Northeastern News female athlete of the year for
her achievements in field hockey. Among her awards are America East
offensive player of the year and second-team All American. She also
leads her team in goals.
Dr. R. George Eli of Elder Services attended a conference on suicide
held by McLean Hospital on April 8 at Massachusetts Medical Society's
Conference Center in Waltham. |
