ENGAGEMENTS April 28, 2005 Shelyn M. Garcia and Luiz C. Oliveira Bella and German Garcia of Edgartown announce the engagement of their daughter, Shelyn Maria Garcia, to Luiz Carlos Oliveira, of Edgartown, son of Jose de Oliveira and Maria Dos Santos of Brazil. An Island wedding is planned for July 2 in Edgartown. Rachel Barrett and Michael E. Perry Jr. Wayne and Nadine Barrett of Oak Bluffs announce the engagement of their daughter Rachel to Michael E. Perry Jr., of Abington, the son of Michael and Audrey Perry of Oak Bluffs. The couple will be married at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Oak Bluffs this September. Joy Alwardt and Donald J. Gallant Herman and Jeanne Alwardt of Raymond, N.H. and formerly of Vineyard Haven, announce the engagement of their daughter, Joy Alwardt of Middleboro, to Donald J. Gallant, the son of Donald and Bonnie Gallant, also of Middleboro. Ms. Alwardt, a 1996 graduate of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, is the granddaughter of Helen Alwardt and Betty and Bob Quinn, all of Vineyard Haven. A July wedding is planned in Assonet. Venuta M. Carulli and John W. Larsen Venuta M. Carulli and John W. Larsen Barbara Carulli and Thomas Masterton of Leverett announce the engagement of their daughter, Venuta Masterton Carulli, to John Walter Larsen, son of Mary Ellen Larsen of Vineyard Haven and John C. Larsen of Acushnet. Ms. Carulli is pursing a master’s degree in education at Tufts University. Mr. Larsen graduated from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in 1997 and is a former Minnesinger. He is studying for a master’s degree in environmental science at Tufts University. A wedding date has not been set.
