Goin' to the dogs

Boys and Girls
Club Reopens
On Monday, Sept. 19 the Boys and Girls Club of Martha's Vineyard reopens for the school year. Club hours are 2:30 to 6 pm, Monday through Friday.

Class reunion coming up
The 35th year reunion of the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School class of 1970 will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Portuguese-American Club in Oak Bluffs.

Women's retreat
Faith MV Church is hosting a retreat Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Sailing Camp in Oak Bluffs. Alison Littauer will be the retreat speaker and the theme is "Becoming a Woman of Prayer."

Trip back in time
to Plimouth
Take a day trip to Plimoth Plantation on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Join the Tisbury Council on Aging as they visit the plantation, the Mayflower II, and Plymouth Rock.
The 1627 pilgrim village is populated with authentically dressed townspeople who speak the King's English. Visit the museum, and see demonstrations, and livestock. The Mayflower II is a reproduction of the ship that brought the colonists to the New World.
The cost is $47 and includes bus fare, lunch, and all admission fees. To join the trip, call 508-696-4205 and reserve your space.
CROP Walk rallies troops
This Sunday, Sept. 18, join the Rev. Alden Besse for an organizational meeting about this year's CROP Walk. The meeting will take place at Grace Episcopal Church on Woodlawn Street in Vineyard Haven at 5 pm.
Plans for the Oct. 16 walk will be discussed with prospective walkers, recruiters, and sponsors. The goal for this year's walk is to raise $20,000. Monies from the walk fund local, national, and international hunger projects. Locally the Island Food Pantry uses CROP Walk funds to buy food for more than 700 families who use the pantry.
