Getting Married on Martha's Vineyard Photo by Julian K. Robinson The great thing about getting married on the Vineyard is that you can choose anything from a traditional church wedding with all the trappings to a ceremony on a beautiful deserted beach. You can have a lovely reception at an inn or hotel or perhaps have the whole affair at one of the Island's picturesque lighthouses. There are a ton of options available and you can explore these options either by going to an Island wedding planner or talking to one of the local caterers or flower arrangers - they're generally happy to give you ideas. But the key is to plan well ahead of your big day. At best I've been a mediocre guest. Plus, I have a lot of admiration for people who are bad guests. Veteran wedding planner Patricia Blanc, of An Island Affair, says she tries to keep couples focused on the things that are important to them when helping to plan their big day. A slow march up, a spritely dance back.
