Bit of news
April 23, 2008 – 10:02 amA colleague who knows this stuff pointed me to an online news report on WebProNews.com, which tots up the Barack Obama presidential campaign spending on web ads. I am delighted to report that some of that money has come our way. You may have noticed a slew of Obama ads on mvtimes.com.

“The Obama campaign poured more than $1 million into Google in February,” WebProNews reports, ”compared with only $67,000 by Clinton during February. The $1 million paid to Google was more than six times the campaign’s entire online ad spend for January.”
So, you won’t be surprised that in this corner, it’s yay Obama, step it up Clinton. We’ve even included a photo, just over there, as testimony to our devotion to Senator Obama’s web-saavy ad spending practices.
Of course, if, as is certainly the case, Senator Clinton deserves censure for her niggardliness on the online spending front, we think the Obama campaign could do a little better as well. After all, the Illinois senator’s campaign brought in $45 million in online donations in February alone.

What a stupid remark, like money for advertising is the best thing since ice cream. You should know you canidate by now and the ads are not going to change anyone’s mind by now. Best bet is to study/research more about the spouse of Barack Obama- quite interesting since she graduated from Princeton. Do NOT want this woman as our first lady. She is totally into herself, her race and anti american that she can be. Leave race out of it Mrs.

“niggard |ˈnigərd| noun, often offensive. a stingy or ungenerous person. adjective often offensive archaic term for niggardly . ORIGIN: late Middle English : alteration of earlier nigon. USAGE: This word, along with its adverbial form niggardly, should be used with caution. Owing to the sound similarity to the highly inflammatory racial epithet nigger, these words can cause unnecessary confusion and unintentional offense”
– From the online dictionary
This is just a guess, but of all the words to use for “stingy”, I imagine your decision to use the outdated “niggardly” had something to do with hoping someone, ANYONE, would comment on what you have to say? Sorry no one bit.
You discontinued Arlan Wise’s column– What was that about not finding any room for it? I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but I think you’d have much happier readers if you’d recognize that people would rather you make room for Arlan than for this stuff. But then again, maybe other readers, not counting Times employees, will disagree with me.

While I may not be privy to all the specifics of the Arlan Wise issue, I think it should be known that prior to Arlan’s departure, I was asked by the Calendar editor if it would be possible for her article to appear regularly and in its entirety online. The possibility of it taking on a blog-like format in order to interact more with her readers was also raised. My response in regards to both was simply, “Sure, no problem.”
