Sloan
Hart won a Bernina Artista sewing machine in a raffle that
benefited Hospice of Martha's Vineyard. Linda Sheen donated
the sewing machine, and the raffle raised $3,585. Ms. Harts
name was chosen by Lynne Benson in her store, the Heath Hen
Quilt Shop, on Dec. 20.
Ms. Hart plans to make a series of lap throws with the Hospice
logo, the Tree of Life, and sell them at next years Handmade
from the Heart bazaar in December to benefit Hospice of Martha's
Vineyard.

Eliot L. Coutts
of Vineyard Haven is enrolled in the associate degree program the
Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston, majoring in electrical
technology.
The Southeastern Regional Junior Music Festival at the Attleboro High
School will include Island students: Zach Rabin, Katie-Ann Mayhew,
Lydia Fischer, Maria Casey, Liam OCallaghan, and Janelle
Fortes. From Falmouth Academy, Emily Mercier, and Clea
Baumhofer will perform.
High school music students chosen to perform at the All-Cape and Islands
festival this year are: Emma Conley, Shannon Lobdell, Becky Williams,
Emily Laursen, Jenn Barry, Shannon McAuliffe, Jon Ryan, Marco Daniels,
Justin Schulze, and Erik Bang-Birge.
The Massachusetts Music Educators Association festival will
include students Emma Conley, Becky Williams, and Jon Ryan.
Whitnee Costabel of Vineyard Haven has been named to the deans
list at Johnson and Wales University. Whitnee is pursuing an associate
degree in advertising and communications from the college of business.

The
Girl Scout Council of Southeastern Massachusetts have awarded
the Silver Award to Emily Regan of Troop 827 of Oak
Bluffs. The Silver Award is the highest achievement for Girl
Scouts 11 to 14 years old.

Sharon M. Willoughby,
treasurer of the Town of Edgartown, recently received a certificate
designating her as a Certified Massachusetts Municipal Treasurer.
Ms. Willoughby received her certificate on Dec. 15, 2004 at the College
of the Holy Cross in Worcester.
The following students in the sophomore class at the Martha's Vineyard
Regional High School have received awards from the African American
Heritage Trail of Martha's Vineyard: Anna Convey, Alexis Moreis,
Janey Sobel, Jason Mello, Harold Pilskaln, Zach Sylvia, Matt Seklecki,
Denis Vogel, Max Shay, Kevin Segal, Andy Walsh, Matthew Scott, Mike
Gately, Chris Edwards, Calla Gillies, Eddie Johnson, John Jacobs,
James ODonnell, Kara Marshall, Jacob Vanderhoop, and Courtney
Sullivan.
The following students have been named to the headmasters list
at the Falmouth Academy: Clea Baumhofer, Elin Nelson, and Lily
Cronig of West Tisbury, and Lagan Trieschmann of Vineyard
Haven.
Katherine
Lolley of Vineyard Haven will be listed in the 2004 edition of
Whos Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.
Ms. Lolley is a senior at Simmons College.
Robert D. Moriarty, son of attorney CJ Moriarty II and Gerldine
Moriarty of South Hadley and Edgartown, has passed the Massachusetts
bar examination. Robert Moriarty is working in the law office of Charles
Morano, Esq., of Edgartown and Barnstable.
