Maisy the mouse, from Lucy Cousins' books, is visiting Island libraries and bringing smiles to the faces of her young fans.

The Martha's Vineyard Library Association's children's librarians invited Maisy to the Island. Bring the youngsters to meet the adventure-loving mouse this Saturday at the Edgartown Public Library; Tuesday at the Vineyard Haven Public Library; and next Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Chilmark Public Library.

Boston speaker highlights NAACP event
Carol Fulp, vice president of Community Relations for John Hancock Financial Services in Boston, will be the featured speaker at the Martha's Vineyard NAACP's annual Martin Luther King Jr. dinner next Tuesday, Jan. 18. The festive evening, which also includes an awards ceremony, will be held at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown. More>>

Two miles of scenic shoreline and over 140 acres of dunes and maritime habitat have been protected by a conservation restriction. Join us for this rare opportunity to visit Squibnocket Point.

The deadline for all Calendar submissions is every Monday at noon for Thursday’s issue. This deadline is firm. It is the sole discretion of The Times’s editorial staff to determine if and how an entry is listed in the Directory of Information. Remember that The Times also accepts paid advertisements for events: 508-693-6100.

Submitting a Calendar Listing:

Include the name of the event, date and time, location, short description, admission or fee charged (specify if it’s free), and contact phone number. If the event is a benefit, please include the name of the sponsor/s and where proceeds will go.

All information must be submitted in writing only. Telephone submissions cannot be accepted. Incomplete submissions delay the editorial process and will not be published. All submissions are subject to editing.
