Children's
gift alleviates pain

Rachel Vanderhoop (right), director of development at the
hospital, thanks Tisbury School student Jacqueline Menton.
Kyle Mercaldo (center) holds a check for $2,400, a donation
to the Marthašs Vineyard Hospital. The presentation took place
last Thursday.
Each
year the students of the Tisbury School raise money for
a special gift for the Marthas Vineyard Hospital.
This year the fundraising efforts purchased an Abbot AIM
Plus Pump. The pump allows a patient to control pain medication
he or she receives with just the push of a button.
The patient can decide when more pain medication is needed
without having to call a nurse, but the pump is programmed
so overdoses are not possible.
The Tisbury School is teaching good citizenship to its students
by encouraging giving through this annual fundraiser.
