Year of the Wood Rooster The Chinese New Year, and LOSAR, the Tibetan New Year, began on February 9, 2005. In their system of astrology, this is the year of the wood rooster, or bird. When the five elements and 12 signs combine, the cycle is 60 years, which makes 2005 resemble 1945. Wood rooster years are fertile ones, crops are good, and any business connected with wood or metal thrives. It’s a year to stay near home and strut around the yard. The written materials on wood rooster years make it sound very Saturnian. There’s an emphasis on law and order. It’s a year to straighten up, pay off your debts, and put your life back into order. This is the year for strategic planning. It’s a good year to lose weight, reduce your excess, and be frugal. The rooster is called the taskmaster, one of Saturn’s names.
