With
pride and pleasure, young students from the West Tisbury
School celebrated Multicultural Day last Friday. Kindergarteners
through second-graders dressed in colorful costumes and
represented countries around the world.
Teachers Maggie Chianese, Teri Mello, Elaine Barnett, Susan
Huntington, Mary Boyd, and Marilyn Yas mounted the production
for the school.

Parker" - the film to be screened Saturday, March 26, at the
Martha's Vineyard Agricultural Society's annual Potluck Social - shows
how considerable are the charms of a certain northwestern New England
state and how similar some of its cultural concerns are to those of
the Vineyard.

Conservation Almanac
The United States
emits more carbon dioxide from its cars and light trucks than all
other countries in the world except China, Russia, and Japan. Hybrid
vehicles, which are highly efficient combinations of gasoline and
electricity, have been developed to combat the many unhealthy air
conditions found in our cities, and across our land. These vehicles
are environmentally good because they reduce our dependence on foreign
oil and have less impact on the local air quality. Although they
carry batteries that need to be charged they don't need to be plugged
in and don't need special fuel. In addition, they tend to need less
maintenance then conventional vehicles, last longer, and have a
higher resale value. If you would like to see the list of the best
