We have two very special birthday celebrations to tell you about.
Remember to pass on your good wishes to these girls.
Becky Renear celebrated her 80th birthday last Sunday amidst family
and friends. The party was co-hosted by her daughter Dawn Rockwell
at the home of Jackie Renear. Grandson Jeremy gave the toast. Becky's
granddaughter Melissa Rockwell presented a scrapbook and a dvd made
from pictures of Becky's life. Melissa did a very professional job,
though she is only in 8th grade.
Anna Duarte was surprised by a big birthday party last Saturday at
the P. A. Club. She thought it was for another family member and had
spent many hours cooking for the party. Anna was totally surprised
to find out that the party was to mark her 80th birthday.
Anna wants to thank everyone, including her niece Charlene Tucker
Barbosa who organized the party. Many friends and family members gave
cash contributions to pay off Anna's garage bill for repairs to her
old 'clunker.' Anna also wants to thank Bobby Pachico for his wonderful
support and donations of food from Reliable Market.
Congratulations to Lynn Weber-Wright on the birth of her new grandson.
Lynn has just returned from a delightful visit to Scotland. She was
visiting the family of her son Keldon Peterson and his wife Jennifer
Lawrie. Keldon and Jennifer have a new baby boy. Joseph Duncan Peterson
was born at a healthy 10 pounds, four ounces on March 23 in Fife,
Scotland. Joseph has two older sisters Sasha (almost 10) and Alex
(six). Lynn reports that the daffodils and tulips were in full bloom
and the grass was already green.
You may remember Jennifer Lawrie. She taught third grade at the Edgartown
School in an exchange program with Mary Gentle in 1993-94. Jennifer
continues to teach in Scotland. Keldon Peterson works as a psychiatric
nurse. The Petersons live in Cupar, near St. Andrews, Scotland.
Daylight Savings Time always seems to bring the spring sunshine. It
certainly worked that way last week. We had a taste of warm weather
and are ready for more. Summer will be here before you know it. Make
plans now to take advantage of the good weather coming our way.
Mark your calendars. The Tisbury Travel Club is offering two day trips
in June. Visit the Heritage Museum and Gardens in Sandwich and the
J.K. Lilly III Auto Museum on June 7. On June 22, a bus trip will
take you to Hyannis to board the Cape Cod Central Railroad for their
Scenic Luncheon tour. These trips are sponsored by the Tisbury Senior
Center. Anyone is welcome. Call Sandy Whitworth at 508-696-4205 to
reserve your seat or for more information.
Big bunches of birthday balloon wishes go out tomorrow to Ann Lee
and Mike McLaughlin. Happy birthday to Fran Griffin Gould who will
blow out her candles on Saturday. Sunday is a special day for Ann
Maley and Mildred Rocker. Wish the best on Monday to Donna Herczeg
and Rozetta Hughes. Bob Tankard will party on Tuesday.
Heard on Main Street: Vote! You really should vote. Remember,
if you don't vote, then you let people like me choose for you.
