Priscilla M. (Peggy) Carroll, 56, of Vineyard Haven died peacefully at her home on May 5 after 9 years of a courageous battle with cancer. Her loving family surrounded her at the time of her death.

Peggy was a graduate of the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School and of Bryant & Stratton College in Boston. Peggy was employed by Carroll's Moving & Storage in Vineyard Haven and was a very instrumental part of the office management.

She was fond of horseback riding, enjoyed playing & watching tennis, traveling in the tractor-trailer with her husband, Leigh, to different parts of the country and spending winter vacations in Florida. While her children were growing up she always remained involved with their many activities and volunteered for different fundraising events.

Besides her mother, Peggy leaves her husband of 36 years, Leigh C. Carroll, Sr. of Vineyard Haven; her children, Greg Carroll of Edgartown, Leigh Carroll, Jr. of Oak Bluffs, Holly (Carroll) Bruguiere of Edgartown and Megan Carroll of Vineyard Haven; three step-sons, Randy Carroll of Newton, Scott Carroll of Long Branch, N.J., and Marc Street of Wellington, Fla., and Oak Bluffs; a sister, Brenda (Cummens) Johnson of Naples, Fla.; a brother, Chuck Cummens of Vineyard Haven; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren, as well a several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, at the Martha's Vineyard Agricultural Hall, West Tisbury at 1 pm. Donations may be made in her memory to the Martha's Vineyard Cancer Support Group, P.O. Box 2214, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568 or to Hospice of Martha's Vineyard, P.O. Box 2549, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557.
