I dont know about everyone else but weve all had a crazy
week, running around to all different events and appointments. May
appears to be a very busy month around here. Im not sure we
could actually schedule one more thing into our days. Soon, we may
have to give up sleeping entirely! Im actually looking forward
to July, when the Island itself is busier but my schedule somehow
looks more manageable. Go figure.
The best news of the week is that Bob Morgan is home! Not only has
he returned to the Island, he is actually home to his own house and
his family. Bob has spent the last eight weeks in Boston and on the
Cape recovering from a heart attack. Jen, Rob, and Amy Morgan all
went to the Cape on Friday to pick him up and bring him back. Allouise
and Jen brought him by our house late this afternoon for a quick visit
and I can say firsthand that he looks fantastic. As Jamie was one
of the officers on the scene originally, he was particularly happy
to see Bob looking and feeling so well. Welcome home, Bob. Its
great to have you back!
The Rainbow Run was Saturday morning and it was great fun. The police
shut off Main Street for about five minutes so the kids from Rainbow
Place can run from the parking lot at the foot of Main Street to the
Old Whaling Church. The kids had a great time and even most of the
parents were laughing and having a great time. It is a great lesson
for the kids too, as they learn from the teachers that it isnt
about who wins but about doing your best and having fun. Each runner
was rewarded with a medal on a rainbow ribbon and a little bottle
of bubbles at the end, as well as some good snacks, water, and juice.
Everyone had a really good time.
Happy birthday wishes go out to Katherine OBrien, who turned
three this week and to my little Amelia, who also turns three tomorrow.
Happy Anniversary to Kevin and Joanne Ryan, who celebrate 28 years
together this week.
Congratulations go out to Joel DeRoche, Stephanie Immelt, Jamie Craig,
Kara Shemeth, and Chris and Molly Hargy, all of Edgartown, for completing
the EMT course on Saturday. Theyve all worked very hard on the
course, going to classes two nights a week and every other Saturday,
as well as working two shifts in the ER. They all must now take the
standardized written exam, but if all goes well, well have six
more EMTs in Edgartown.
Wagger is missing again. For any of you who know our ongoing saga
with our cat, he has a tendency to wander away a few times a year.
He is a 10-year-old black and white cat, extremely friendly, who often
heads to the South Water St./Collins Beach area. If you see him, feel
free to let us know or bring him home. Hed probably go with
you.
Have a great week, everyone.
