Riccie
Tucker, Cathy Campbell, Martine Madden, and Gretchen MacArthur
received training from the American Cancer Society on the Look Good,
Feel Good Program. The women learned techniques to restore self-esteem
and cope with appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.
Ms. Tucker, Ms. Campbell, and Ms. MacArthur will work with women providing
skin care and beauty consultations. Ms. Madden will help women cope
with hair loss, wigs, scarves, and other accessories.
The non-medical program is offered for free in partnership with the
American Cancer Society.
The following students artwork has been selected for the cover
of the 2005-2006 Island Book Telephone Directory and Almanac. Genevieve
Hammond and Molly Fischer of West Tisbury School, Anna
Hughes of Marthas Vineyard Public Charter School, Rachel
Cassiani of Edgartown School, Emma Forbes of Oak Bluffs
School, Alex Bilzerian of Tisbury School.
Each winner receives a $100 United States Savings Bond as well as
having their artwork displayed on the cover of the telephone directory.
Mitchell Benway of Vineyard Haven was part of a color guard detail
appearing at the grand ballroom of New Yorks Hilton Hotel to
honor Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Cadet Benway is a senior at New York Military Academy. He is an academy
student of distinction, a member of the National Honor Society, and
received the Coaches Award by the football coaches this past winter.
