James Tapan Morse
The 94th commencement for the New England School of Law was held on May 27 at the Wang Center in Boston. James Tapan Morse of Vineyard Haven graduated juris doctor. A sergeant with the Oak Bluffs Police Department, Mr. Morse attended classes at the law school in the evenings for the past four years while working full time as a police officer. In attendance for the occasion were Jim’s family and friends, including Marcia and Bill Cini, and Chief Blake and Lt. Williamson from the Oak Bluffs Police Department.

Doyle S. Rice of Silver Springs, Md., a former Island resident, has been promoted to weather editor of USA Today and USAToday.com. He is a 1982 graduate of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School and the son of Jo-Anne and Dick Rice of West Tisbury and Oak Bluffs.

Dana G. Mead III of Oak Bluffs has graduated from Tilton School.

The National Honor Society inducted six new members at the annual awards night at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School. The six, all juniors are: Katie Campbell, Heather Chipperfield, Max Currier, Lauren Franklin, Erin Keaney and Dylan O’Brien.

The society’s officers are: president, Kelsey Perry; vice president, Abbey Stone; secretary, Evan Wardell; and treasurer, Zach Wallen.
