Pulling strings to help the children
This Saturday morning at 10:30 am the Spindrift Marionettes will present
the first of two performances of Kate Crackernuts at the
First Congregational Church of West Tisbury. This Scottish classic
is the tale of a brave young woman, fairies, and magical spells.
A $4 donation is suggested which will benefit the Mama Bakhita Home
for Disabled Children in Zambia. The second and final performance
of the summer will take place next Saturday, July 30 at the Unitarian
Universalist Church in Vineyard Haven.
Spice up your garden
Polly Hill Arboretum will be the site for two new workshops starting
next week. On Monday, July 25, 3 to 6 pm, landscape designer Julie
Siegel will host a workshop on making paths. The experimental and
practical design workshop will explore the entire process of path
design, including functional elements and construction.
Two days later, on Wednesday, July 27, author and garden writer Tovah
Martin will present an illustrated talk on cottage gardening in America.
Ms. Martin will explore the romantic profusion of flowers, scents,
colors, and textures characteristic of traditional cottage gardens.
Both events will take place at the Polly Hill Arboretum, State Rd.,
West Tisbury. For more information, call 508-693-9426.
