Select members of Lorraine Graves’s Dance Theatre of Harlem amazed a capacity audience at the Performing Arts Center last Thursday with their elegant fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern dance. Set to a musical backdrop that included pieces by Stevie Wonder, Keb Mo, and Dvorak, the dancers moved with power, precision, and emotion. The evening was a benefit for the Island chapter of Habitat for Humanity, the organization dedicated to helping families of modest means afford homes of their own.
