Have your say

“Says You!,” the National Public Radio weekly comedy quiz show, comes to the Vineyard. Join host Richard Sher and celebrity panelists Barry Nolan, Arnie Reisman, Paula Lyons, Tony Kahn, Francine Achbar and Carolyn Fay Fox as they bid a fond farewell to summer with a “Dog Day Definitions” show. On Sunday, August 28, there will be two performances in Vineyard Haven at the Vineyard Playhouse, 3 pm and 7:30 pm.

Each performance will consist of two half-hour shows (with an intermission) before a live audience. Time Magazine called the show “parties for smarties.” “Says You!” is now on more than 130 NPR stations and can be heard on Audible.com.

Tickets for “Says You!” are $25 each. For an additional donation of $20, join the cast for a VIP Reception at 6:30 pm. Partial proceeds will benefit the Vineyard Playhouse. To order tickets in advance, go to www.saysyou.org. For further information, please call the Vineyard Playhouse at 508-696-6300 or visit our web site at www.vineyardplayhouse.org. Tickets will be sold at the door, if they are still available, on the day of the show.

Boys to men

This evening at 5 pm, author Peggy Drexler will be discussing her book “Raising Boys Without Men” at the Martha’s Vineyard Community Services office.

The book details the results of Ms. Drexler’s long-term study comparing boys from female-headed households with those raised in traditional mom and dad families. Ms. Drexler discovered that raising emotionally healthy, masculine sons does not require a man in the house.

To find out more, join Ms. Drexler for the reading and book signing.
