Astrology: Mars Retrograde...

October 6 , 2005

By Arlan Wise

It's just starting. We are not used to this energy, so it feels harder to adjust to than when Mercury is retrograde. Mars affects our actions. It feels like running through sticky mud: you get there but it takes a lot more time and effort. The purpose is not forward motion but a time to redirect one's direction in life. It is a time to look for a new challenge. It can also be a time to solve dilemmas as you look at the situation from another angle.

Mars will be retrograde from Oct. 1 to Dec. 9. He will move from 23 to 8 degrees of Taurus. Where those degrees fall in your chart shows you what area in your life will be the most affected. The last time Mars was retrograde was from end of July to beginning of November in 2003.

Mercury joins Mars in retrograde motion on November 14 and stays that way until December 3. You will be doing a lot of rethinking and changing plans this Fall.

Thursday, Oct. 6 Moon in Scorpio. You'll face your moods during the day. Let go of past hurts and grudges. Old anger will rise to the surface. This is your chance to get rid of it. Try to see what is a real hurt and what is just hurt feelings. You may have to revisit a situation you thought was completed.

Friday, Oct. 7 Moon in Sagittarius. Venus walks alongside the moon to bring peace and harmony to the day. She dares you to have an adventure, to go beyond your usual limits. Follow your curiosity and seek out new knowledge. Get outdoors and play, hike, bike, skate, or ride.

Saturday, Oct. 8 Moon in Sagittarius. This is a good weekend for an excursion to parts unknown. Taking a trip together with your partner will have a good effect on your relationship. Mercury enters Scorpio to sharpen your mind, increase your perceptiveness. Dig deep for answers tonight.

Sunday, Oct. 9 Moon VC Sagittarius, enters Capricorn 8:43 am. This is a good day to catch up on your work. You played yesterday, be serious today. You'll have the patience to tackle that tedious written assignment. You can organize your home office. This moon gives you the perseverance to deal with the Mars retrograde upsets.

Monday, Oct. 10 Moon in Capricorn. It's hard to relax today; there's a need to do things that bring results. If you have to sit, fill the time by making plans and writing schedules. Once you have the intent to act, you will have the necessary energy. Note tomorrow's VC morning and extend your holiday.

Tuesday, Oct. 11 Moon VC Capricorn, enter Aquarius 12:05 pm. You'll have time for a slow reentry during the morning's energy lull. The moon touches Chiron and reminds you of what you must do to heal yourself. You'll know when the moon changes signs as your mind will start to fill up with new ideas.

Wednesday, Oct. 12 Moon in Aquarius. Ideas rule the day. Some will be serious and you will have to accept their truth. Some will be wonderful fantasies of how life could be. Listen to all of them. Get involved with a community effort. Support a cause. Browse the catalogs that sell electronic goods.

Thursday, Oct. 13 Moon in Aquarius, VC from 9:34 am until 2:05 pm when it enters Pisces. Flow with the day. You can't control the way things will happen. Think positively and don't worry. Nourish yourself with some art, music, or any kind of beauty.

Friday, Oct. 14 Moon in Pisces. Let yourself flow through the day with no expectations. Surprises are delightful and beneficial when Venus flirts with Uranus today. A brief encounter can be meaningful. Please your aesthetic side with some art and music. Write a big check to help the hurricane victims.

Saturday, Oct. 15 Moon VC Pisces, enters Aries 3:39 pm. It's another day to drift with the currents until the moon changes sign. Give time to your spiritual practice. You will have the discipline of mind for study and meditation. You will not tolerate anything less than the truth. You can champion your cause this evening.

Sunday, Oct. 16 Moon in Aries. Tomorrow's eclipse has people on edge. Work by yourself at your own pace on your own projects. Talk a long run or walk to blow off steam. You'll be feeling the emotional agitation of the approaching lunar eclipse. It can be a good time to clear out old emotional debris.

Monday, Oct. 17 Moon in Aries, VC from 2:58 pm until 6:04 pm when it enters Taurus. This eclipse is special because Jupiter is connected. There is an emphasis on relationship and partnerships. Jupiter makes it beneficial. End a bad relationship. Follow your heart and say the words that start a hopefully good one. It's a day when you can let go of obsessive emotional behavior.

Tuesday, Oct. 18 Moon in Taurus. You'll feel the emotional instability of the day after a lunar eclipse. It's a low motivation day. Stay with your routine and get your work done and try to do tomorrow's important tasks. Treat yourself to your favorite dinner. Indulge your senses.

Wednesday, Oct. 19 Moon VC Taurus, enters Gemini 10:44 pm. The moon touches Mars and goes void of course. Sit still and deal with what comes to you. Don't initiate anything. Turn your attention to beauty, nature, music, and satisfying your hungers.

Thursday, Oct. 20 Moon in Gemini. You can take all that you've been chewing on for the past few days and put it into words. It's a day to communicate, multi-task, and see as many friends as you can. Your mind is wide open to take in information. Think of what you want and where you want to be; the power of intent is strong today.
