Draw 'em to the fair
The Martha's Vineyard Agricultural Society announces the 2006 Fair Poster Contest. Do you have the perfect visual idea for publicizing the 145th annual fair?

Submissions should fit in an 18- by 24-inch frame, and the graphic design will be reproduced on a T-shirt. The deadline for artwork is Saturday, April 1. For more details, call 508-693-4343.

School art show
See artwork by the students of the Chilmark School at the Chilmark Public Library, on display now through the end of February.

All levels - from Kindergarten to fifth grade - are represented in the mixed media show. Stop by the library and see the display.

On the wild side
Wildlife photographer Julian K. Robinson of Oak Bluffs has added rhymed verse to 10 of his photos. These photos will be exhibited during February at the State Road, West Tisbury branch of the Dukes County Savings Bank during regular banking hours.

Included in the color candids of Vineyard wild and domestic creatures are a swan with two cygnets, a bounding deer, turkeys, a cow and calf, two owls, a ewe with two lambs, an osprey with nestlings, and a cedar waxwing.

Follow that bunny
Max, the popular storybook character created by Rosemary Wells, enchanted youngsters last week on his library-hopping tour. Max is shown here at the Chilmark Public Library last Saturday.

You can still meet Max this Saturday, Jan. 28 when he brings his brand of bunny fun to the Oak Bluffs Public Library at 10:30 am, or meet him at the Edgartown Public Library at 3 pm.

Preparing for opening night
Tisbury School students visited the Times office with a press release about the upcoming Fourth Grade Theater Project production, opening next Saturday.

Fourth graders Tyler Paulson, Aaron Figueroa, and Kyle Stobie all work on the production team and are responsible for ad sales, public relations, box office, house management, concession sales, and programs for the two plays.

Written by students from Mrs. Herman's and Ms. VandeGeer's classes, the plays are the culmination of a 10-week program brought into the school by the Vineyard Playhouse.

"Magnetic Mayhem" and "I Thought I Heard A Seagull" will be performed at the Tisbury School, W. William Street, on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3 pm and 7 pm. Tickets are $6 or $4 for children and available at the door.
