Patti and Jenna Leighton met the newest pop classical group, Il Divo, backstage at the Wang Center on Feb. 2, the second stop on the trio's world tour. Patti Leighton entered a Boston Globe contest and won two tickets and other prizes, such as CDs.

Shortly before the concert, Patti and her daughter Jenna were ushered to a room to meet the group. It was a "once-in-a-lifetime experience," said Patti, who described the concert as having "an amazingly rich incredible sound.

Elizabeth "Libby" Bouck of West Tisbury has been inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society. Libby is a junior at the University of New Hampshire. The academic honor society is open to juniors and seniors in the top 15 percent of their class.

Island artist Christine Alesch won second place in the animal and wildlife category in Pastel Journal's "Best Art of 2005." Pastel Journal, a national magazine for pastel artists, received approximately 4,000 entries for this competition. The results were printed in their April 2006 issue.
