Language classes offered
Portuguese language classes are being offered by the YMCA of Martha's Vineyard and begin on Tuesday, March 28. The eight-week course meets weekly from 7:45 to 9:15 pm at the YMCA, Cottagers' Corner, 57 Pequot Avenue, Oak Bluffs.

Taught by Wagner Bastos, the course is designed to help the business community. The cost is $150 with all materials provided. Call 508-696-7171 to register for the class.

Benefit for women's clinic
NOW of Martha's Vineyard is hosting a benefit for Tecpan Women's Rural Health Clinic in Tecpan, Guatemala on Thursday, March 30 at the Wharf in Edgartown.

The evening will include live music, poetry reading, capoiera performances, samba, international cuisine, and much more. Tickets are $10 and the event begins at 7 pm. For more information, call 508-627-9995.

Rejuvenate for spring!
Bounce into April with a Spring Rejuvenation Retreat at Vineyard Complementary Medicine in West Tisbury on Saturday, April 8. The pampering begins at 10:30 am with Megan Grennan's Yoga class. Then staff and visiting practitioners will provide acupuncture, muscular tension treatments, and more to energize and invigorate the immune system, release physical and emotional tension, and balance natural energy. Nutritious refreshments will be served so guests can make a healthy day of it. The retreat will end at approximately 3 pm. Cost is $75 and advance registration is recommended as space is limited. Going to the dogs
The Martha's Vineyard MSPCA is looking for donations for their annual yard sale. Have you begun your spring cleaning? Do you have usable items to donate for the sale? Household items, clothing, furniture, and attic treasures may be dropped off at the MSPCA, Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road, near the Triangle in Edgartown, any Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 am to 4 pm.

Building a pond
Imagine installing a water garden in your yard in just one weekend! Michael Gannon of Full Service Aquatics plans to do just that at a home on Chicamo Path, off Barnes Rd., Oak Bluffs, March 31 and April 1 and clean-up on April 12. The project usually takes several weeks. Visitors interested in learning about ponds and water gardens are welcome to observe. Excavation and creating the structure will be done on March 31 with waterfalls, streams, rocks, and other details added on April 1. For information and directions, call 732-801-3474 or 732-926-0216.
