A summer remembered

By Anna Marie D'Addarie - March 30, 2006

The new drama is a coming-of-age story set in rural Maine in the mid-1970s. Mr. Maidoff said, "the story follows a strange passage in the life of a family shattered by divorce. In Maine, the two children discover a world so different from their privileged city life that they will be transformed by the stark realities and awesome beauty forever."

As a teacher, Mr. Maidoff is sensitive to the needs of his students and as a playwright he provides them with acting challenges while fulfilling their desire to tackle difficult issues.

In the program notes for his new play Mr. Maidoff writes, "Over the years I have had the opportunity to be the teller of tales and an observer of those who are transformed by them. A good story can create lasting transformation for good or ill, especially the stories we believe about ourselves. I hope that my writing and story telling may support us in our search for our best selves and our common humanity."

The audience and the performers are in for an interesting journey.
