Music fills the halls

The Martha's Vineyard Regional High School Performing Arts Department presented a concert on March 28 at the school as part of "Music In Our Schools" month. Performing groups included choruses, the string orchestra, and the jazz band, making it an eclectic event.

The combined chorus rocked the house with a spiritual and the jazz band performed "Oye Como Va" and "Miss Mango" to the delight of the audience.

There was also a preview of the string orchestra's upcoming Italian concert tour as the group played selections from their repertoire.

Music is alive and well in Island schools, thanks to the teachers who continue to challenge and inspire our students.
