Gliding perfection

The second weekend in April found the Martha's Vineyard Ice Arena packed with figure skating fans. The Martha's Vineyard Skating Club presented their annual ice show on April 8 and 9 and skaters from age 3 and up performed many different numbers.

Crowd favorites included tunes from the movie "Shark Tale," the musical "Grease," and songs by the Beatles. The skating club teaches all levels and ages, encouraging skaters to advance in the sport while having fun. Many Island skaters competed in off-Island shows throughout the season, bringing home medals and awards. The annual show is the culmination of the season and a chance for the athletes to show off a little to a home-town crowd.
