Friends of the Oak Bluffs Library will be sponsoring a Staff Appreciation Day on Friday, May 12. The group wants to show their appreciation to the library staff for working so hard to get the new library ready to open and for their continuing dedication and hard work. Patrons are urged to come by on that day and say thank you to all these people who have worked so hard. The Friends would also like you to know that they are anxious to accept new members and you may join at any time. They meet the first Monday of the month at 7 pm at (where else?) the library! If you haven't done so yet, when you go by the library notice the beautiful flowers and plantings around the front. This cheerful display brightens the whole street.
When you read this column this week, I will be enjoying a visit with my son and daughter-in-law, Dion and Debra Alley, and my grandchildren, Sam, Ben, and Paige, in sunny Daniel Island, S.C. Today is Paige's first birthday and I am also here to help celebrate Sam's confirmation on Sunday.
We send anniversary wishes to Carol and Bink deBettencourt whose special day was Monday and also to Helen and Peter Valentzas of Wing Rod. The Valentzas were married in Worchester on April 28, 1946. I believe that makes 60 years. Congratulations.
Birthday smiles to Fred Hall and Todd Alexander on May 5.
News seems very quiet this week, but all you people who have returned from spring vacation be sure and send your news along to me. Enjoy your week.
