On Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20 the Yard will show a mixed program of contemporary dance from the artists-in-residence. The company includes Hope Davis, Erica Faust, Hana Ginsburg, David Ingram, Emily Eyre Proctor, Kevin Shannon, Riley Watts, and Karell Williams.
"By The Yard" is a program of dances from the repertoire of the dancers and choreographers. The artist-in-residence program is a six-week residency designed to support the creation of new work. The guest choreographer is Adam Hougland.

New work by Vineyard writers
The Vineyard Playhouse is presenting Island Interludes, five evenings of new work by Island writers. The festival is sponsored by the Martha's Vineyard Cultural Council.
On Friday, May 19, Joyce Wagner will read from her new book, "Random Overthoughts," the best (give or take) of her humor column "Overthinking." Ms. Wagner's book has been called "Dave Barry with breasts." On Sunday, May 20, there will be a reading of Jonathan Skurnik's screenplay "The Very Best There Is."
Next Thursday, May 25, Taffy McCarthy will perform a new solo show, "I Know You Are But What Am I?" On Friday, May 26 there will be a musical reading of "Billy Baloo," a musical drama written by Michael Mason and scored by Jemima James and Michael Mason.
The final Interlude will be "Male, Female, E-Mail," a new musical with book by Pat Sternberg and music and lyrics by Machelle Seible.
Island Interludes is produced and directed by the playhouse artistic director MJ Bruder Munafo, technical director Stephen M. Zablotny and lighting designer Liz Villard.

End the year in song
The Performing Arts Department of Martha's Vineyard Regional High School will perform an end-of-year concert on Tuesday, May 23 at 7 pm in the Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature the freshman and mixed choruses as well as the concert band.
