Students light fire
It is time for the annual kiln firing at Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs. The students and alumni of Martha's Vineyard Regional High School will feed the 200-cubic-foot wood-fired kiln with four cords of wood that was collected by the students.
More than 200 pieces of pottery will be fired between Monday, June 12, and Wednesday, June 15. According to art teacher Scott Campbell, "The best viewing of the process will be Wednesday night." Stop by and watch the process of making art.
Film contest for everyone
Martha's Vineyard On-Line and Martha's Vineyard Community Television (MVTV) are collaborating on a venture for novice or pro filmmakers to have their work shown at the Martha's Vineyard International Film Festival in September.
All filmmakers are invited to submit a short film, five minutes or under, inspired by the theme "Think Globally, Shoot Locally." MVTV will offer filmmakers the equipment and training to make their films. Call the station at 508-696-9760 for more information.

The exhibit, titled "Hardening of the Categories Causes Art Disease," was curated by Cleo Winsryg-Wild.
