Congratulations to two Marines, Lance Corporal Christopher Leigh Clark and Corporal Librada Maria Garza. They were married last Saturday at a beautiful ceremony in the Church by the Side of the Road in Rockford, Ill. Librada is the daughter of Reymundo and Patricia Garza of Rockford. Chris's parents Richard Clark and Nancy Gardella, both of Tisbury, attended the wedding. The bride's two-year-old son Corbyn was the ring bearer. The couple is stationed at Henderson Hall in Arlington, Va.

The Vineyard's past comes alive with rare Island images at the Katharine Cornell Theatre on Saturday at 8 pm. The Martha's Vineyard Film Society and the Martha's Vineyard Museum will present three film vignettes from Linsey Lee's work-in-progress documentary entitled "Vineyard Voices - American Stories.

Perry Garfinkel, a New York Times writer since 1986 and former Martha's Vineyard Times Calendar Editor, is the author of "Buddha Rising: Out of the Monastery, Into the Living Room," an article in the December 2005 National Geographic. Perry will talk about "In the Footsteps of the Buddha" on Tuesday, August 15, at 7:30 pm at the Vineyard Haven Library. Copies of his new book "Buddha or Bust" will be available for sale.

Congratulations to Jane and Herbert Searle. She was the former Jane Ritenbaugh of Pittsburgh, Pa. We are honored to tell you that yesterday they celebrated 65 happy years together.

Skip and Carol Bailey celebrate their wedding anniversary on Monday, marking twelve years. They have a lot of years to go before they can match the Searles.
