Chris Macdonald, a 1996 graduate of the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School, has completed certification for his paramedic license in Washington state. Mr. Macdonald received the Torry Tarrant Award for high G.P.A. He is a firefighter in Washington and the son of Don and Betsy Macdonald of West Tisbury.

Ashley Peters of Edgartown, completed a two-week course at the Summer Theatre Institute at the State University of New York at Oswego.

Jennifer McCurdy of Vineyard Haven will have her art work exhibited in the 30th annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, Nov. 2 through Nov. 5. Ms. McCurdy specializes in ceramics. Her work was chosen as one of the 195 exhibitors from more than 1500 applicants nationwide.

Genevieve Flanders of Chilmark received the Kellogg Essay Prize at Hamilton College's convocation on Aug. 27. The essay prize is awarded to a freshman, sophomore, and junior who excel in English essays at the Clinton, N.Y., college. Ms. Flanders is the daughter of Joyanne and Steven Flanders.
