Oak Bluffs nature photographer Julian K. Robinson has been cited for honorable mention in the Massachusetts Agricultural Calendar Photography Contest for 2007. The calendar is published by the Massachusetts Department of Food and Agriculture. In 2002, Mr. Robinson's photo of a cow and her calf was featured on the calendar's cover.
Mr. Robinson's photo (shown here) is of two Norwegian draft horses playing in the snow. The horses belong to John and Cheryl George of Tisbury and are stabled at Takemmy Farm in West Tisbury.
Falmouth Academy elected three Martha's Vineyard residents to the school's 2006-2007 Student Council.
Malcolm Smith was elected 7th grade representative for the class of 2009. Hillary Smith was elected 7th grade treasurer of the class of 2009. Both are children of Russell and Susan Heckler Smith of Aquinnah.
Sam Amazeen was elected vice president for the class of 2007. Sam is the son of Susan and Ted Amazeen of Oak Bluffs.
The Martha's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce Charitable Fund announces the recipients for the Jim Lambert Memorial Scholarships. The recipients will receive $1,500 for the second semester of the 2006-2007 school year.
Bess Child of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Bess is majoring in psychology.
Amanda Klein of Plymouth State University, Plymouth, N.H. Amanda is majoring in physical education.
Adam Mello of Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine. Adam is majoring in transportation operations.
Michelle O'Donnell of Rhode Island College in Providence, R.I. Michelle is majoring in elementary education.
Mariah Peebles of Harvard College. Mariah is majoring in history of science/social studies.
The Sheriff's Meadow Foundation has elected new officers. They are Steve Crampton, president; Emily Bramhall, vice president; John Schaefer, treasurer; and Sarah Foehl, clerk/assistant treasurer.
