Greek to me

Styled after the traditions of ancient Greek theater, Outerland is presenting "To Breathe," a dinner theater event on Saturday, Nov. 18. Entertainment includes the erotic poetry of Linda Black and Michael West, jazz music composed and performed by The Groovers, and original dances by choreographers Jill Matrisciano (She Figured Dance) and Daryl Owens. Slow Food and Island Grown initiatives are preparing a $35 prix fixe dinner to be served at 7 pm. Reservations preferred. Contact 508-693-1137.

Small wonders and snap judgements

Forty-seven new works of art from 12 Island artists will be included in the Louisa Gould Gallery's second annual holiday show, "Small Wonders & Wildlife Art." The show openened Nov. 13, and features, among others, Steve London's Japanese fish prints, William Blakeslee's painted portraits, and Mark Sutherland's half hulls. On Saturday, Nov. 18, from 4 to 6 pm, Louisa Gould will present a photographic slide show of her recent travels through India, along with Indian fare to sample. Some of the photographs will be published in "Introduction to World Religion," scheduled for publication by Routledge Press in Nov. 2007.

Branching out

Get the first glimpse of decorated trees, ornaments, and affordable gifts made by Island artisans featured at the fourth annual Featherstone Center for the Arts Holiday Gift Show. A preview party is being held Friday, Nov. 17, at 7 pm. The Holiday Show opens Saturday, Nov. 18, and runs through Dec. 20, from noon to 4 pm daily. (The show will be closed on Thanksgiving, Nov. 23.) The gifts, made by Island artisans, range from $5 to $250.
